Solskjaer 'Embarrassed' As United's Season Ends In Predictable Fashion

"The only positive from today is that the season is over".

Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku could be among the big names leaving United this summer, as the club plans a massive overhaul of a failing squad, with pressure on Solskjaer to start the season on a high after a disastrous final few weeks of this campaign. We meet again 1 July and we'll work back to where we belong.

"I have to say it'll be nice for them to have a full season somewhere and play but then again maybe the best place is here, when you train with the best players in the world and in this environment. We've got loads of good examples of players being out for a year on loan and coming back as men so let's see what we decide on these boys but I can see a lot of them staying here and getting chances".

In fact, a top-four finish and a run in the Champions League had looked more than achievable at one point after their remarkable fightback against French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

After the game, there was understandable anger from the fans as players and staffed completed the traditional end-of-season farewell ceremony. "Last time we were in the Europa League with loads of youngsters we won it and the League Cup we have to start the season with the aim to win".

At 17 years and 223 days, Greenwood became the youngest player to start a match for the Red Devils and was a bright spot in an otherwise gloomy performance from the team as they lost 2-0 to an already relegated Cardiff City side. Absolutely exceptional. And we are five or six points behind Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea.

We're not a team or a club that should end up sixth. "The owners know where we are". That is very disappointing. We are too far behind where this club needs to be and we can all see that this is a rebuild. With the club having only registered two victories in their last ten encounters in all competitions, Solskjaer was quite frank in his assessment of his side's chances of winning the league title next season.

"We know as staff and players that next season we've got a great challenge ahead". It's near embarrassing when you get clapped off the pitch with the support we have.
