Frank celebrates 'whopper of a win' with Burger King contract

The test kicked off on April 1, with the Impossible Whopper being offered to customers at 59 locations around St. Louis. This decision could have significant implications for the environment and our health, as producing meat requires a lot of water and land and emits tons of fossil fuel emissions.

Burger King is adding a meatless burger to its menus nationwide. Because of its resounding success, Burger King's parent company Restaurant Brands International Inc. chose to roll out the Impossible Whopper in more branches across the United States.

Chris Finazzo, president of Burger King's North American operations, said during an earnings conference call April 29 that the Impossible Whopper was attracting new customers. The company said it may expand sales nationally by the end of this year. Burger King's same-store earnings grew 2% as the company attempted to revive US breakfast earnings with a $5 yearly java subscription deal. The first campaign the three agencies worked on together was Whopper Day last month, where Burger King only sold Whopper burgers for the whole day. The product is created to give the customers another option if they want to eat a burger every day, but not eat beef or any kind of meat. Compared to the beef industry, the environmental footprint of plant-based foods is comparably lower. To do this, Burger King partnered with Impossible Foods, a relatively new fake meat start-up.

The meals are accompanied by a new ad from Burger King, highlighting mental health and showing individuals struggling with issues such as bullying, student loans, and being ghosted before a date.

Every Real Meal is basically some type of Whopper combo meal (which the guest chooses) and, unlike Happy Meals, these are not being targeted at young kids.

According to a CNN Business article, the global market for meat substitutes will grow to $6.4 billion by 2023.
