Mueller Delivers Completed Report on Russia Probe to Justice Department

The president has repeatedly blasted the investigation as a "witch hunt" and has maintained his innocence, stating since May 2017 that there was "no collusion" between himself, or members of his campaign, and Russian Federation during the 2016 presidential election.

Mueller has charged 26 Russian nationals while three Russian companies have been charged with interfering in the 2016 presidential election.

Mr Trump said: "I have a deputy, appoints a man to write a report on me, to make a determination on my presidency".

There were reports that Barr may brief Congress on the report's contents as soon as this weekend. He offered no details of Mueller's findings. The next steps are up to Trump's attorney general, to Congress and, in all likelihood, federal courts.

The almost two-year probe has shadowed Trump's presidency and resulted in felony charges against 34 people including six people who served on Trump's campaign.

Material from The Associated Press was used in this report.

US intelligence agencies have concluded that Moscow meddled in the election with a campaign of email hacking and online propaganda aimed at sowing discord in the United States, hurting Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and helping Trump. But Mueller's findings could amplify the liberal voices in the House Democratic caucus already calling for Trump's impeachment.

U.S. President Donald Trump calls out to media as he greets people on the tarmac after arriving on Air Force One, on Friday at Palm Beach International Airport, in West Palm Beach, Fla. To announce charges against Russian operatives on two separate occasions in 2018, Mueller relied on Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who appointed Mueller in 2017 and oversaw much of his work. Thus, President Trump will not be indicted based on the Mueller report.

He added: "If Mr. Trump were removed from office by Congress, a significant portion of this country would see this as a coup, and it would drive those people farther from the common centre of American life, more deeply fracturing our country". Signed by Oversight Chair Elijah Cummings, Foreign Affairs Chair Eliot Engel, Judiciary Chair Jerrold Nadler, Ways and Means Chair Richard Neal, Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff, and Financial Services Chair Maxine Waters, the letter uses this argument to highlight why it is so crucial Barr meet their demands.

The prospect of no further indictments could present a massive boon to President Trump and many of those surrounding him.

"Take a moment from their busy lives to show that they are united by something even more important: the belief that the president of the United States can not be a chronic liar who repeatedly attacks the rule of law".

Trump and his allies have spent almost two years trying to discredit Mueller.

Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen pleaded guilty to making false statements in a case brought by Mueller in November.
