Zion Williamson Injury Update Heading Into The UNC Game

They'll remain without Zion Williamson on Saturday night when the Dean Dome plays host to the thrilling ACC tilt between the No. 3 Tar Heels and No. 4 Blue Devils. Williamson has been dealing with a sprained knee, which he initially suffered within the first 40 seconds of the Blue Devils' first matchup against the Tar Heels on February 20. The Blue Devils fell to the Tar Heels 88-72 and have since gone 2-1.

After Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski expressed doubt on Friday that Williamson would be available for the game, the school announced Saturday morning that Williamson will be sidelined for a fifth consecutive game. Late in the game on an and-1, Barrett set the Duke freshman record for most points in a season.

Following the win over Wake Forest, the Blue Devils are 26-4 for the season and 14-3 against ACC opponents, one game behind joint-leaders Virginia and North Carolina.

The Duke Blue Devils look for another win after winning 13 of their last 15 games. The spread seems a little too wide and I think the Blue Devils will stay within the number if not win outright.

The status of Zion Williamson is unknown as I am writing this.

A matchup with Pittsburgh in the opening round of the ACC Women's Tournament was just what Duke needed.

"I have to be careful not to push this", Krzyzewski said earlier this week, via The Athletic.

"Playing with not a full deck has been very hard", he said.

In the end, none of Wake Forest's misses were bigger than Chaundee Brown's would-be game-winning putback that rolled off the rim as time expired. Most players need some reps to get back in game shape.

Freshman point guard Tre Jones also limped to the locker room in the second half after bumping his right knee. And that would force the Tar Heels to find other options to score points that it didn't have to count on last time.

"He's so team-oriented", Krzyzewski said. "You can't put together a well-oiled machine here in a couple practices to play in this conference at a level when you lose a kid like that".
