Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G coming to Europe in May for €599

Xiaomi has just unveiled its first 5G smartphone at MWC 2019 and it's a reworking of its current flagship, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. Its first product launch is the Mi MIX 3 5G which comes with a new processor and a new modem. It has a 6.39 inch 1080 x 2340 pixel dense AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

What made the Mi Mix 3 different from the existing variant is the fact that it is equipped with the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chip. It's just a 5G version of it, the one we've been expecting for months.

Xiaomi has announced that the Mi 9 price will be €499 (about Rs 36,000) for the 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage variant. The smartphone features a slider mechanism similar to Honor Magic 2 and hides its dual 24-megapixel selfie shooters there. At the rear, the smartphone offers dual-camera setup as well with 12-megapixel wide-angle and telephoto lens. It runs MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie and is backed by same 3,200mAh battery. Also, it sports the Snapdragon X50 independent baseband that makes the phone support 5G connectivity. You also get wireless charging, fast wired charging, type C connector, dedicated Google Assistant Button and the magnetic slide system to reveal the cameras. The smartphone was launched in China last week and shows Xiaomi's focus to tap into a market where Samsung and Apple have become vulnerable for lack of innovation and huge price.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 price in the global markets has been set at Euro 449 (roughly Rs. 36,200) for the base 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant, while the 6GB RAM/ 128GB storage model will be available at Euro 499 (roughly Rs. 40,200). It will be available in Ocean Blue, Lavender Violet, and Piano Black colours in Western Europe. Xiaomi says it will be available in May on Mi.com, at Mi Stores, and at retail partner stores. They also managed to give it a bigger battery with the older model having a 3200 mAh pack and the new one features a much bigger 3800 mAh battery back.
