National Football League notebook: Patriots owner Kraft faces solicitation charges

On Friday morning, police in Jupiter, Florida, announced Kraft was charged with two counts of soliciting someone to commit prostitution.

Over 50 arrests have reportedly been made and almost 200 warrants have been issued so far in relation to the widespread investigation.

"The NFL is aware of the ongoing law enforcement matter and will continue to monitor developments".

Now the owner of the New England Patriots, Kraft is one of the largest donors to Columbia Athletics, having made a $5 million gift in 2007, which led the field at Lawrence A. Wien Stadium to be named in his honor. The NFL's policy reads, "ownership and club or league management have traditionally been held to a higher standard and will be subject to more significant discipline when violations of the Personal Conduct Policy occur".

The incidents occurred over the course of two visits to the Orchids of Asia Day Spa, which took place approximately a month ago, police said. He is a close friend to President Donald Trump. "He's proclaimed his innocence, totally", Trump said at the White House on Friday.

Kraft's wife of many decades, Myra Hiatt Kraft, died in 2011 of ovarian cancer. The president called the news "very sad".

As a spokesman for Robert Kraft has "categorically" denied any illegal activity, all Patriots fans and National Football League fans in general can do is wait to see how it all plays out.

Vero Beach police Chief David Currey, whose agency has been involved in the sex-trafficking investigation, said the prostitutes are victims of an global human trafficking ring and have been trapped into the trade. "They can't leave and they are performing sex acts", Currey said, according to the TCPalm.

The owner of Orchids of Asia Day Spa, 58-year-old Hua Zhang, was arrested Tuesday on 29 prostitution and related charges.

Since Kraft bought the team, the Patriots have won the Super Bowl six times under quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick. They also stopped men who broke traffic laws after visiting the spa and four of them told police about what the spa was really doing.

Kraft, 77, has owned the Patriots since 1994 and is CEO of the Kraft Group.
