Michael Cohen To Testify Before House Oversight Committee On February 27

Fox News contributor Andrew McCarthy said Wednesday that a report claiming President Trump asked if a USA attorney could lead the probe into Michael Cohen despite his recusal is "all wind and no rain".

Promoting a GoFundMe page created to help him and his family as "he goes forward on his journey to tell the truth about Donald Trump", Cohen tweeted that he was looking forward to the hearing.

Rep. Elijah Cummings, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, announced the date for Cohen's testimony on Wednesday.

Jordan charged that Cohen was invited "just to satisfy Tom Steyer", - a billionaire Democrat who is funding a campaign to impeach Trump - "and other political forces on the left".

Cohen, 52, was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to lying to the Senate intelligence committee and campaign finance violations.

Cohen, President Donald Trump's former personal attorney and fixer, is also preparing to testify before three Congressional committees this month.

"Mr. Cohen underwent serious shoulder surgery and this extra time allows Mr. Cohen to continue his physical therapy", a statement said.

Pauley granted the request without comment, deferring the prison report date to May 6 from March 6.

Trump and Giuliani last month suggested Cohen's father-in-law should be investigated for alleged but unspecified crimes; the president and his lawyer suggested that Cohen had made up stories about Trump in order to prevent being entangled in a separate potential case.

Cohen will testify at 10 a.m. on February 27, the committee's chairman, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.), said in a statement.

Davis confirmed in a tweet that Cohen would appear before the Oversight Committee and said Cohen "will speak about his decade long experiences working for Mr. Trump". Cohen is expected to be questioned by the oversight committee about payments before Election Day in 2016 to buy the silence of women who allege they had sexual relationships with Trump.

"The issue would be if Trump directed his attorney general to tell the US attorney in NY to ignore his recusal and take over the investigations that impact Trump", McCarthy said on Outnumbered Overtime.
