Antonio Brown tweets goodbye to Steeler Nation, reportedly requests trade

How does a Larry Fitzgerald-Antonio Brown wide receiver duo sound? ESPN reported shortly afterwards that he has officially asked the team for a trade.

Antonio Brown's time in Pittsburgh appears to be up.

"Thank you SteelerNation for a big 9 years", Brown wrote on Twitter.

Of course, Brown remains under contract to the Steelers, so the 49ers are not allowed to publicly discuss the potential of Brown playing in Santa Clara next season.

Brown reportedly had a spat during practice leading up to the Steelers' Week 17 matchup vs. the Bengals, walked out of team activities and did not play in the game.

Adding fuel to the speculation, KUSA-TV's Mike Klis - a reporter closely connected to the team - tweeted Tuesday that head coach Vic Fangio and wide receivers coach Zach Azzanni "could handle" Brown. He was not seen as a star coming out of college and seemed nearly an after-thought when he was drafted in the sixth-round by the Steelers in the 2010 draft.

In nine seasons with the Steelers, Brown has 837 catches for 11,207 yards and 74 touchdowns.

He has, however, been involved in problems off the field recently.

Brown was additionally found guilty of reckless driving after failing to make his court appearance in Pittsburgh earlier Tuesday. Last month, two lawsuits were filed against Brown after he allegedly threw furniture from his 14th-floor apartment. The woman did not press charges and Brown was not arrested.
