Xiaomi's Foldable Smartphone Leaks with Triple-fold Design

The leak, in the form of a video clip, has been shared via twitter and is very dimly lit but still shows very little bezel in landscape mode, which the user then folds the other two side under to create one conventional-sized smartphone.

For those who aren't sure, the video shows a foldable device running Android under Xiaomi's MIUI skin.

The FlexPai is rough around the edges but could be the world's first commercially available foldable tablet-phone. Samsung launched its first foldable smartphone in November and is expected to ship it in the first half of this year. We know that Google is being hands-on with foldable Android devices already, and there is some suggestion that this may be the result of a partnership between the two companies. A small video showcasing a foldable smartphone has popped up online and going by the speculations it is supposed to be a Xiaomi handset. Whilst not vouching for the authenticity of the footage himself, Blass tweeted that the video showed a Xioami phone. If it is, it's just further confirmation that folding designs are becoming trendy within phone manufacturers' designs despite such a concept having barely reached the public enough to analyze audience interest. Currently, several companies, including Huawei and Samsung have similar design. Also, there is also no news on the tech specs of the device as well as when it will be available in Malaysia. But as Xiaomi has always tried to stick to an economy price range for its existing handsets, interested buyers can expect to see the company's foldable stunner within the range of United States dollars 1000 to USD 1500.

To recall, Royole had recently showcased their foldable smartphone Flexpai, thus, marking the beginning of the foldable screen era.

Although the video was shot inside a dark room and was unclear to revealed details about the alleged foldable phone from Xiaomi, the fact that Xiaomi is coming up with a foldable phone is great. The three-fold wide-screen tablet folds from the right and left side to become a compact phone.
