Pochettino demands consistency from title-chasing Spurs

Tottenham can now relax and watch the showdown between City and Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday, with Mauricio Pochettino's side believing they can still force their way into title contention in 2019.

After Kane launched an attack, surging from deep, Kieran Trippier crossed and the England forward had a simple tap-in when the ball ricocheted off Cardiff defender Sean Morrison.

It meant that five of Spurs' front six players - Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko, Christian Eriksen, Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane - started for the fourth match in a row, with all of those games taking place in the space of just 10 days.

Eriksen received a pass from Son, took a touch, and sent a precise shot from the edge of the area just inside the post to make it 2-0 in the 12th minute.

"To be 3-0 up after 20 minutes was fantastic for us and then we dominated the game".

Neil Warnock will therefore be disappointed and maybe a little concerned by what has happened in his side's past two home matches against Manchester United and Spurs.

"They have some quality players and I think it will be a massive test for us, after the Wolves defeat, to go there and again to create and be positive".

Cardiff entered the contest in confident mood after four points from festive fixtures at Crystal Palace and Leicester had moved them three clear of the relegation zone.

They toyed with Cardiff at times, and the third goal killed the game, with the "Ole" chants going up from the visiting fans after half an hour.

"All the planning goes out of the window".

Pochettino is not anxious however over whether one of his star men is set to exit the club before they move into their new stadium, stating that a lack of information is more promising than anything else.

"I was pleased we hung in there because it's easy to throw the towel in when you're 3-0 down to a team like this".
