Ben Roethlisberger denies 'blowout' with Antonio Brown: 'everything was great'

Pittsburgh Steelers star receiver Antonio Brown [right] was benched last week following a heated dispute with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger [left] during practice, a report stated.

The Steelers quarterback continued to play down talks of the fight and revealed that he had spoken to the wide receiver on Thursday and that everything was okay between them. Previous year we saw Pittsburgh part ways with the offensive coordinator Todd Haley and we could see a big defensive shift this offseason. Tomlin does believe that Brown was dealing with some type of injury, but added to his knowledge that Brown has not undergone the MRI. Brown is better at his position than Roethlisberger is at his, and while the National Football League values quarterbacks above all, No. 84's skills are truly rare- and he's not heading toward his age 37 season like the big QB is.

Ex-Steelers safety Ryan Clark, who now works as an analyst for ESPN, shared a story on Monday that painted Brown as a player who has always put himself ahead of the team. JuJu Smith-Schuster, whom his teammates voted as team MVP instead of Brown, also fumbled with one minute left to effectively end the game.

"I'm blessed to play with him", Roethlisberger said Tuesday.

Tomlin said he plans to consult players for perspective on how to handle the ongoing drama with Brown. "If there was a blowup I sure as heck didn't see it". While Brown also wondered aloud whether the Steelers should trade him, a source told Rapoport that Brown was simply frustrated and was not making a trade demand. "I will certainly talk to him". "I know guys that are frustrated".

While Tomlin demurred when asked during his season-ending news conference on Wednesday if Brown "quit", the longtime head coach offered little in defense of the perennial Pro Bowler, whose historic production has become increasingly at odds with his erratic off-the-field behavior.
