NYPD Searching For Couple Whose Times Square Proposal Went Horribly Wrong

The now-affianced man dropped the ring just before midnight Friday, according to the New York Daily News.

Security footage from the New York Police Department shows a man getting down on one knee to propose then promptly dropping the engagement ring down a subway grate in Times Square. Anyone with any information, can call them. "WANTED", it said. "He was so excited that he dropped the ring in a grate".

The ring was later retrieved and cleaned by the NYPD but the would-be bride and groom left without passing on their names or their contact details.

The police tweeted a photo of the happy couple on Sunday, appearing to thank the police.

So the NYPD Emergency Service Unit responded to the scene but was unable to locate the ring.

Lots of lads are nervous when they ask their other half to marry them but most aren't so jittery that they end up losing the ring altogether.

A couple whose wedding proposal went horribly wrong will get their happy ending after all, CBS New York reports.

While his partner watches, the man drops to his stomach on the sidewalk but the ring is 3000 per cent out of his reach.

Some 355,000 people pass through Times Square on an average day.
