Treat Young Boys clash as ‘last chance’, Mourinho tells United

"So, I think we played a game like 'One more game, ' and I don't think the game is 'One more game.' I think it is a game we really need to win".

Jose Mourinho accused his Manchester United players of lacking heart after their hopes of a push for the Premier League's top four were dented by a lethargic 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday (Nov 24).

Midfield has proved a particularly weak link of late, with Saturday's disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Crystal Palace a case in point, and Mourinho - who can not now seem to find a starting place for Fred, his £52m summer signing from Shakhtar Donetsk - is hoping Pogba and company start winning some second balls on Tuesday night.

"It's the biggest club in the world and we as players need to take what's said and take that on board".

Matteo Darmian, who started against Palace, was also missing from Monday's training, along with Marcos Rojo.

"I think we knew the sort of the period we had all the way to Christmas, there were so many home games that three points had to be a must", United defender Smalling said. 'Probably you thought Jose told them to start slow. If you ask me do I prefer to play tomorrow at Young Boys here or go again to Berne I would say immediately to play at home. "I want them to start strong and go for it nearly immediately".

"I think Crystal Palace deserve the credit".

Whatever the reason for the poor performances so far this season, Jose is running out of time to save his job with the club already 14 points behind fierce rivals Manchester City who are now in first place.

"Manchester City and Liverpool, the teams up there, they are consistent", he added.

"You can improve. You can influence players - especially when they are open to it, when a player realises he has to give more and change his nature". I don't feel pressure to play at home.

"But then they've got two centre-backs who are development centre-back at the moment, (Victor) Lindelof and (Eric) Bailly, and we've seen the problems they've had developing because of the expectation placed upon them". Supporters will not want him to lose his stride under Mourinho by spending too long on the sidelines.
