Man who shot woman at Florida Walmart turned gun on self

The man is in custody and suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Ocala Police Department said a woman has died after getting shot by a man during a domestic dispute at the Walmart on East Silver Springs Blvd.

Ocala police said this is the 12th domestic violence homicide in the county this year.

Witnesses told police Cronin screamed for help before she was shot multiple times. Johnson then shot her.

They found him about two hours later at a home down the road with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head - he is not expected to survive.

Ocala Fire Rescue says that they responded the the Walmart a little before 2:30pm, after reports of an active shooter. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

He said the victim and the gunman dated for about nine months but were now apart.

Ballard says the suspect wanted to get back together, but she did not. Ballard said he was an aisle away when the shooting took place.

The family of the suspect gathered at Ocala Regional Medical Center on Saturday evening. His brother, Kenneth Johnson, told the newspaper that his brother had been turning his life around, adding that "he's not this monster, but a man with a broken heart".
