Jose Mourinho dismisses reports of Real Madrid return

Real Madrid's board want Jose Mourinho to replace current manager Julen Lopetegui, according to reports from Spain.

A 2-1 home defeat to Levante on Saturday piled more pressure on the former Spain manager as Madrid recorded the longest goal drought in the club's history before finally finding the back of the net for the first time in nearly a month.

The 55-year-old has, however, clarified that he is not leaving the Red Devils for Madrid, adding that he is happy at Old Trafford.

"All I am thinking about is Manchester United".

Mourinho's own job was under question earlier this month when a newspaper said he was to be sacked regardless of the result against Newcastle.

Mourinho has confirmed Alexis Sanchez will not face Juventus after missing training at Carrington on Monday morning.

In the absence of their talisman, Real have struggled under new manager Julen Lopetegui, going four games without scoring a goal.

"I have many years of my contract left, I am very happy here".

Juve's Cristiano Ronaldo and United midfielder Paul Pogba will both be facing their former clubs, with Mourinho describing his fellow countryman Ronaldo as being "one of the best players of all time and nobody can say anything differently".

The Brazilian was linked with a move to the Serie A champions in the off-season shortly after the departure of the club-record scorer, Ronaldo.

But Mourinho avoided a question on Pogba, when asked if the French World Cup victor had developed and matured as Mourinho would have hoped.

But with Mourinho, the favourite for the sack, under pressure he could well change his mind should United wield the dreaded axe, but for the time being he looks safe following a win over Newcastle, followed by Saturday's draw at Chelsea.

"So I hope everybody does the same as I did which is not to disturb a career of a young guy which is probably a great guy, is probably a coach of great potential and I'm not happy with it more than that".

"We are playing against one of the biggest clubs in the world, one of the candidates for the competition and that is what motivates me and brings me here".

He said: "They now have a special player who makes a difference".
