Clemson Floor Collapse Injures Dozens

Video posted to social media shows the moment the floor collapses, sending dozens of party-goers plummeting into the basement.

"All you seen (sic) was falling, everybody's hands up in the air", Franzie Pendergrass was quoted by the news outlet as saying.

The floor of a clubhouse near Clemson University where a large party was taking place collapsed early Sunday, hurtling dozens of people into the basement, authorities said.

Raven Guerra, 20, who was at the party at the time, told GMA: "By the time I had put one foot out the door, I felt that something was weird and that's when everyone just collapsed and the guy behind me disappeared".

The incident occurred in a clubhouse at the apartment complex, a couple of miles from Clemson Univ.

Thankfully, none of the injuries were life-threatening and all of the individuals initially trapped by the floor collapse were able to be quickly rescued, according to officers from the Clemson, S.C. "Everyone was on the floor and people were screaming and there was wood sticking up from the floorboards". "Then I wake up, because I blacked out, and there [were] girls everywhere with blood all over their face", Leroy Pearson told CBS affiliate WSPA-TV.

'It was a lot to take in'.

The property management of the clubhouse says it was built in 2004. "I can tell you there was a party".

No deaths were reported, but police said some of the injured had broken bones. "I can tell you there was a floor collapse", Slann told the Associated Press.
