Cosby heads to state prison SCI Phoenix to begin serving sentence

The man once known as "America's Dad" now has a new moniker: Inmate No. NN7687.

Once celebrated for his portrayal of the charming father figure Dr. Cliff Huxtable, Cosby was also declared a sexually violent predator - a designation that requires him to register as a sex offender and attend mandatory counseling for the rest of his life.

The $400 million lockup opened two months ago and can hold 3,830 inmates.

Prosecutors convinced the judge to deny Cosby, 81, bail pending an appeal because they believe the elderly, frail and legally blind comedian still poses a danger to society. As part of the overall evaluation, evaluators will decide if Cosby should be in the general population or in protective custody.

"They persecuted Jesus and look what happened", Wyatt also said, according to CNN.

At his sentencing on Monday, Cosby's defense attorneys anxious that Cosby's age, vision impairment and declining health could make him a target.

"And no one should be treated disproportionately because of who they are, where they live, or even their wealth, celebrity or philanthropy", Montgomery County Judge Steven O'Neill said in sentencing Cosby to an above-average sentence for a 2004 sex assault.

"We prosecute where the evidence takes us and that was done in this case", District Attorney Kevin Steele said Tuesday.

During the sentencing hearing, which began on Monday in the US, Judge O'Neill heard from both the defense and the prosecution, as well as testimony and victim impact statements from the women, who have accused Cosby.

More than 60 women have accused Cosby of sexually assaulting them.

Bill Cosby's first meal after being sentenced to a state prison for sexual assault has been revealed and its somewhat ironic. While Cosby's survivors shared emotional reactions to the sentencing, his spokesperson Andrew Wyatt delivered one of the most absurd and nonsensical statements to the press.

The biggest difference from the first trial - which ended in a mistrial - was O'Neill's decision to let jurors hear from five other women who say Cosby had also drugged and violated them.

The new witnesses - permitted by state law to show that a charged crime fits a larger pattern of offenses - helped prosecutors bolster what had been a "he-said-she-said" case. The media circus that ensued included character attacks on her and her family, while a 2005 civil case forced her to relive the horrifying event.

Several of Cosby's alleged victims were in court for the sentencing, including supermodel Janice Dickinson.
