President Trump: Sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh 'totally political'

I understand that I have been identified by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford as the person she remembers as "PJ" who supposedly was present at the party she described in her statements to the Washington Post.

"As with any witness who comes before the Senate, the Senate Judiciary Committee can not hand over its constitutional duties to attorneys for outside witnesses", Mike Davis, Senator Grassley's top nominations counsel, wrote in an email exchange with Ms Ford's lawyers obtained by the Associated Press.

In a series of tweets that have since been deleted, Whelan said Ford may have confused Kavanaugh for a different classmate, one that he named in the tweets along with the address of the house where he suggested the reported attack had taken place.

While investigators weren't specific and spoke on background, they said they are looking at allegations against Kavanaugh during his senior year in high school after an anonymous witness came forward this weekend.

Ramirez admitted to New Yorker reporters Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer that she had been drinking and that she has gaps in her memories.

Trump said Monday (Sept 24) that the charges against Kavanaugh were "totally political" and has described him as "one of the finest people". She also called for the committee to refer investigations into both sexual misconduct allegations to the FBI.

The New Yorker magazine reported that Senate Democrats were investigating a second woman's accusation of sexual misconduct by Mr Kavanaugh dating to the 1983-84 academic year, Mr Kavanaugh's first at Yale University.

Grassley turned down Ford's request that only senators, not attorneys, be allowed to ask questions.

Michael Avenatti, best known as the attorney for former adult film actress Stormy Daniels, announced Sunday that he is representing a third woman "with credible information regarding Judge Kavanaugh". But after consultation with a lawyer, Ramirez told the magazine she felt confident enough in her recollection that it happened.

Ford's accusations of Kavanaugh's behavior 35 years ago and the standoff over the terms of her appearance have captivated the nation as the appeals court judge's confirmation hangs in balance.

White House spokesperson Kerri Kupec said of those who allegedly attended the party, "One week ago, Dr. Christine Ford claimed she was assaulted at a house party attended by four others".

I have always remarked on the hypocrisy of male politicians who bleat about the sanctity of life but who secretly obtain abortions for their daughters, wives or girlfriends. "I look forward to testifying on Thursday about the truth, and defending my good name - and the reputation for character and integrity I have spent a lifetime building - against these last-minute allegations".

A White House spokeswoman added in a second statement that the allegation was "designed to tear down a good man".

"We can say with confidence that if the incident Debbie alleges ever occurred, we would have seen or heard about it-and we did not", the statement read. It's not immediately clear whether the Republican-run Senate Judiciary Committee will agree to more talks.

"It's when men become powerful and think that they can use women and interrupt their careers if they want to for their own predatory proclivities that then they start preying upon women", she continued. As of Sunday evening, Trump had not spoken to Kavanaugh himself.
