The New Trailer for Mary Poppins Returns Reveals a Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Emily Blunt

Disney have released the first full length trailer for the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns, and Emily Blunt is practically ideal in every way as she lands back in London with her umbrella and bag in hand.

He plays the son of Mr Dawes, the banker he played in the original movie, while Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer play the grown-up incarnations of Michael and Jane Banks.

Disney released the trailer today and we couldn't be more excited. The film has a release date of December 21, 2018, here in Ireland meaning it's the ultimate holiday treat for both adults and children.

Mary Poppins Returns also looks set to draw on inspiration from the original film's animated sequence, where the family are drawn into a cartoon by Mary Poppins.

Lin-Manuel, best known as the creator and star of musical theatre smash "Hamilton", has penned all of the original new songs for "Mary Poppins Returns", snippets of which pepper the trailer.

Emily Blunt has taken over the role as the nanny from Julie Andrews, proving that "in every job that must be done, there is an element of fun".

A spoonful (or even just a blink-and-you-missed-it appearance) of Meryl Streep makes the whimsical first full trailer for "Mary Poppins Returns" go down even easier.

With "Chicago" director Rob Marshall at the helm, the sequel looks like the follow-up to the classic tale we deserve.

Mary and Jack: The original Mary Poppins hit theaters in 1964, starring Julie Andrews as the title character and Dick Van Dyke as the chimney sweep Burt. Likewise, Dick Van Dyke appears as Mr. Dawes, Jr. and Angela Lansbury plays the Balloon Lady.

"I have to say, though, in my hometown, in my community, I was very aware of bias and bigotry, and couldn't understand it", Andrews continued.
