Nike's Online Sales Soar After Colin Kaepernick Ad Campaign Launches

On Monday, Nike released a promotional image for their new Kaepernick-inspired campaign which featured a black and white portrait of the player superimposed with the slogan "Believe in something".

Nike's online sales have surged in the wake of it's "Just Do It" campaign featuring Colin Kaepernick.

But the ad has the backing of many top athletes, Williams and National Basketball Association superstar LeBron James appearing in the video, and the message - "Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything" - drew praise from Woods.

Kaepernick, who triggered a political firestorm after kneeling during the US national anthem in 2016 to protest racial injustice, has not played in the NFL since early past year.

It might be because he has millions of reason to do so, but Tiger Woods came out in support of his longtime sponsor Nike during an interview at the BMW Championship on Friday.

Tiger Woods says the Nike "Just Do It" ad narrated by Colin Kaepernick is "a lovely spot".

Nike aired the first commercial featuring Kaepernick during the NFL's season kickoff game Thursday night.

I'm not the first to draw these conclusions, but two things seem to be happening here: One is that Nike sees supporters of Kaepernick as a demographic to whom they want to appeal. The NFL should have taken a bold stand on this, but they fumbled it badly and now Nike is piling on.

President Trump also criticized Nike and National Football League anthem protests Thursday.

Trump has been critical of NFL players kneeling during the national anthem in the past.

"If people say your dreams are insane, if they laugh at what you think you can do, good", Kaepernick says at the start of the ad. "Stay that way because what non-believers fail to understand is that calling a dream insane is not an insult, it's a compliment".

Speaking to the Daily Caller just yesterday, Trump said, "I think it's a awful message that they're sending and the goal of them doing it, maybe there's a reason for them doing it".

He also said Nike didn't tell him the ad was coming. In a lawsuit filed against the league, Kaepernick has accused NFL owners of colluding to blackball him from the league because of his political speech.
