Michael Cohen’s Attorney Believes His Client Is Willing to Testify Without Immunity

The U.S. Constitution does not address this.

Both women have said they had affairs with Trump, which he has denied.

It's not clear whether such a deal would include Cohen's cooperation in the ongoing investigation special counsel investigation surrounding Trump.

"'Justice" took a 12-year-old tax case, among other things, applied tremendous pressure on him and, unlike Michael Cohen, he refused to "break" - make up stories in order to get a "deal.' Such respect for a fearless man!"

Davis explained that Cohen admitted making illegal campaign contributions after Trump's new lawyers sent special counsel Robert Mueller a letter admitting that the president had "directed" his former fixer to pay Daniels, real name Stephanie Clifford.

Cohen left the courthouse shortly after the hearing ended, entering a black Buick as a protester across the street screamed, "Lock him up". Shortly after the verdicts were announced, Trump told reporters, "I feel badly for Paul Manafort" and called him "a good man".

Trump's current lawyer and advisers have said he has nothing to fear from Cohen.

"But it has nothing to do with us", he added.

Lanny Davis, an attorney for Cohen, said in an interview with the PBS NewsHour on Wednesday morning that his client had agreed to cooperate with federal prosecutors and share whatever he knows about the campaign's dealings with Russian Federation.

On Wednesday, the White House said Mr Trump was "not concerned at all" by Cohen co-operating with FBI investigators.

Cohen said in court Tuesday he violated a campaign-finance law in 2016 at the "direction" of a political candidate he didn't identify in court.

In late April, Trump denied that he had knowledge of the $130,000 payment to Daniels.

Meanwhile, leaked documents showed that Cohen was paid millions past year by companies such as AT&T and Novartis to provide advice about the new administration.

Cohen had been under scrutiny by federal prosecutors starting in the fall of 2017, when Mueller's team came across some unusual financial transactions and loans Cohen had obtained.

"Mr. Manafort lied to keep more money when he had it, and he lied to get more money when he didn't", prosecutor Greg Andres told jurors during closing arguments.

The plea discusses sentence ranges of between 46 to 63 months and fines of between $20,000 and $1,000,000.

Trump did not mention Cohen at a rally in West Virginia hours later.

In these 2018 file photos, Paul Manafort leaves federal court in Washington, left and attorney Michael Cohen leaves federal court in NY. But the payments were made under the auspices that they were a retainer for legal work that year.

Mueller's team, which is looking into Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election, came across the some of the evidence against Cohen in the course of its investigation and referred the matter to federal prosecutors in NY. He told Cohen that the deal needed to be completed "or it could look awfully bad for everyone", according to court filings.

Mr Trump has granted presidential pardons to conservative commentator Dinesh D'Souza and former Arizona sheriff Joe Arpaio but Mr Davis said his client would not accept a presidential pardon. Trump could, as they say, shoot somebody on Fifth Avenue, and Sanders could still say he has done nothing wrong and has not been charged with a crime. He said he did so "for the principal goal of influencing the election", as the two women claimed to have had affairs with Trump.

The president said the two payments - which totalled $280,000 - "came from me" and noted a May tweet in which he acknowledged paying Cohen a monthly retainer to stop "false and extortionist accusations".
