Xiaomi Mi A2, A2 Lite launched: India availability, specifications and more

Both of these Android One smartphones are being launched first in Spain, where the company expanded to past year but Xiaomi has plans to launch these smartphones to other markets as well.

A year on, Xiaomi is renewing its collaboration with Google to launch two Android One phones. Future owners of the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite will also receive unlimited high-quality Google Photos storage applicable to any image taken with either device. For better low light performance, the Mi A2's camera has a larger 1.25-micron pixel size and it also supports pixel binning which combines 4 nearby pixels into a larger superpixel. The Xiaomi Mi A2 will come with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage space. Pricing for the Mi A2 starts at €249 (around $290) for the 4GB/32GB model, then €279 (around $325) for 4GB/64GB, and €349 (around $408) for 6GB/128GB. There are three color options - Black, Gold, and Blue. The phone which we all expected to see alongside the Mi Max 3 was spotted on Qualcomm's website filed under devices powered by the Snapdragon 710.

The Mi A2 is the now the best Xiaomi device that runs on stock Android.

Xiaomi Mi A2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor. The dual rear cameras would feature a 20-megapixel f/1.75 aperture lens paired with a 12MP telephoto lens.

Powering the device is a familiar Snapdragon 625 processor which is the same unit that's powering last year's Mi A1.

Xiaomi's Mi A2 boasts a 5.99-inch FHD+ (2,160 x 1,080) display panel with an 18:9 (2:1) aspect ratio covered by curved 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

In the past, Xiaomi had launched the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S with code-name Polaris, followed by Xiaomi Mi 8 with the code-name Dipper and Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition with the code name Ursa. The Mi A2 charges over a USB Type-C (2.0) port and uses a 5V/2A charger. The Super Pixel capabilities can only be activated manually, i.e. through the Pro shooting mode of the Mi A2, though the smartphone's automatic settings should already be more than suitable for the vast majority of lighting conditions you encounter.

Xiaomi is one of the biggest Android device makers on the planet with phones like the Redmi Note selling in unfathomable numbers all across Asia. We can expect Xiaomi to launch it a bit lower when the Mi A2 arrives in India but whatever be the case, it looks like the Mi A2 will be more expensive than the Mi A1.

In terms of optics, the smartphone has a 12 MP primary sensor and a 5 MP depth sensor along with an 8 MP selfie camera. The dual rear cameras are aligned horizontally with LED flash tucked in between two camera lens.
