Danica Patrick makes ESPYs history as first woman to host

Move over "I, Tonya" and step into the spotlight "Me, Danica".

The 36-year-old race auto driver hosted the 2018 ESPY Awards on Wednesday night - making history as the first female host ever - where the two also made their red carpet debut as a couple.

Retired racecar driver Danica Patrick, who was previously a fan of the Bears and is now the current girlfriend of Rodgers, officially announced a change in her National Football League fandom on the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on Monday night. In fact, Long's shocked reaction became a meme on social media.

The ESPYs is always an interesting spectacle because it allows the best athletes in sports to be given the full Hollywood treatment for at least one night - red carpet, awards show, stage presentations and all.

Brady, a three-time nominee, will be up against first-time nominees Jose Altuve of the World Series champion Houston Astros, James Harden of the Houston Rockets and Alexander Ovechkin of the Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals in male athlete nods announced Wednesday.

At that point, a photo of NBA All-Star Game anthem singer Fergie came on screen and Patrick said, "I don't know what Fergie was thinking either".

Another person posted a GIF of comic Steve Carell grimacing with the caption: "These Danica Patrick jokes not hitting.at all".

Patrick proved a good sport by taking aim at herself. In one joke about Tiger Woods, she said, "Why do people keep talking about this guy when he isn't winning? Who does he think he is? Me?"

Patrick, the only woman to win an IndyCar Series race, praised Rodgers after Kimmel asked who drives during their dates.

So will Patrick call out her boyfriend at the ESPYS?
