Papa John's to cut founder out from all branding

The decision to remove Schnatter was made by "top executives" at the pizza chain shortly after Schnatter resigned as chairman following an admission that he used a racial slur during a May conference call, the Associated Press reported.

Schnatter acknowledged using the slur on Wednesday and announced plans to step down from the company. Schnatter finally slips and says the N-word out loud.; 2.

Schnatter apologized for the remarks Wednesday.

When discussing how he would distance himself from racist groups, Mr Schnatter said that Colonel Sanders, the founder of KFC, had never faced criticism for using the N-word, Forbes reported.

Schnatter is Papa John's brand.

The Astros, a well-run organization that is the defending World Series champion, also included a statement from Houston Pizza Venture president Keith Sullins: "I want everyone in the city of Houston to know that Mr. Schnatter's statements are indefensible and in no way represent the views of anyone in our company", which, just given math and sample sizes, can not possibly be true, but at least reads well. He apologized to her, adding that he didn't want to be a "distraction", she said. Papa John's got a taste of that previous year, when Schnatter stepped down as CEO after blaming disappointing pizza sales on the outcry surrounding football players kneeling during the national anthem. Papa John's ended its official sponsorship of the National Football League in February 2018.

Several current Louisville football players expressed on Thursday a desire to have the name of the stadium changed as well.

The incident prompted Papa John's marketing firm to break ties with the company, Forbes said. The University of Louisville also said Schnatter resigned from its board of trustees, and that the school will evaluate the naming arrangement for Papa John's Cardinal Stadium, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.

In addition to appearing in TV ads in the past, Schnatter's image has been on packaging and in a logo that usually is all over the website of the Louisville, Kentucky-based company. The company's shares, which had fallen almost 5 percent Wednesday, rebounded 11 percent Thursday after the company announced Schnatter's resignation as chairman. For the first three months of this year, Papa John's said a key sales figure fell 5.3 percent in North America.

Papa John's latest controversy has begun to cost the brand relationships with baseball teams across the majors.
