England's Next Game Against Croatia Won't Have Any Fans In Attendance

In extra-time, 10-minutes before the final whistle, Mario Mandzukic sent Croatia into their first World Cup final with a strike past Jordan Pickford.

However, it wasn't to be as Croatia's experience showed and Mario Mandzukic scored an extra-time victor to send them to a first ever World Cup final - Ivan Perisic had equalised for Croatia in the second half of normal time. Kieran Trippier left the Luzhniki pitch in tears against Croatia but his swift return is a major boost for England. Mario Mandzukic then scored the victor in the 109th minute, crushing English hearts everywhere.

Writing Croatia's name in the history books: "We'll be in the history books for being, along with Uruguay, the smallest country to play in the final".

In case you didn't know.

The victory sparked wild celebrations in Croatia, where tens of thousands of fans poured onto the streets and squares, singing, letting off flares and waving red-white-and-blue flags. But faced with the world-class Ivan Rakitic and Luka Modric, a basic flaw in the midfield make-up of the England team was laid bare.

In the aftermath of England's elimination in the semi-final, there will be some that might point to Sterling's lack of goals and single assist as a sign of under-performance.

In a stunning post-match revelation, Rakitic announced that he had indeed been very sick the previous night but also insisted that he would've done everything in his power to the play the match, as he eventually did.

"We prepared to get to the final and we want to play it", he said. They were also unable to keep with up the pace of Croatia's play as the Croats began to find gaps in their defensive set-up and created more chances to win. "Those friendlies were a huge help so that now here we are about to play the final".

But Southgate is convinced England can become even stronger if they take a leaf out of the book of Germany.

"They [England] thought they were already in the final, with all the things uploaded on [social] networks.
We knew what they were doing and where", he said.

What an important player he is!

But he reserved more praise for England, saying: "The players and the squad, everybody involved in the World Cup, have a reason to come back home with pride after giving everything and making the country proud".
