Melania Trump arrives in Arizona for her second trip to immigration facilities

First lady Melania Trump made a second visit to a border state Thursday, meeting face to face with people directly affected by her husband's hard-line immigration policies. She tried to visit a similar center in McAllen, Texas, last week but was unable to go because of flooding.

Grisham confirmed on Tuesday that a second trip was being planned, but details were kept under wraps. For her flight to the state, she chose to wear a coat bearing the slogan: "I really don't care, do u?".

Myra Gutin, a professor at Rider University in New Jersey who studies first ladies, says that the aims of Trump's advocacy - and the extent to which they differ from her husband's - seem opaque. Sarat said that if Melania Trump really cared about the children, she would listen to their families to learn why they are fleeing their homes to the U.S.

"She recognizes it's a complex issue", Grisham said.

Melania Trump again visited the U.S. -Mexico border this week - cementing her place as the only member of the Trump family to travel to the region as her husband's administration grapples with fallout from its decision to detain children and families.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that while there had been no official change in the zero-tolerance policy, the reality was that the government does not have the ability to detain all of the families crossing the border illegally, the New York Times reported.

Southwest Key is a nonprofit that runs 26 immigrant shelter facilities for children across Texas, Arizona and California.

Anticipating a trip to Phoenix, protesters also gathered outside the Southwest Key facility in the city's west side.

He reversed the policy last week with an executive order to halt family separations, followed by an order to immigration agencies and the Health and Human Services Department, which supervises detention of immigrant children, to reunify the families. On Tuesday, a federal judge ordered that thousands of migrant chilren and their parents be re-united within 30 days-or less if the child is under 5.

President Donald Trump was last week forced into a U-turn on separating migrant children from their parents, but about 2,000 children remained split from their parents, according to official figures released last weekend. The order poses logistical problems for the administration, and it was unclear how it would meet the deadline.
