Liverpool agree fee for key transfer target Nabil Fekir

Liverpool are reportedly on the verge of signing Nabil Fekir from Lyon in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool want to wrap up the deal as quickly as possible and announce Fekir's arrival over the course of the weekend.

Previous reports suggest that the Reds will pay around £60m for the midfielder.

It seemed like a deal would not be agreed before the World Cup because Lyon were hoping that an impressive display in Russian Federation would inflate Fekir's price tag.

Liverpool are mindful of the dangers of letting the situation drag on throughout the summer, especially given the possibility of France going deep in the tournament.

Chelsea have tracked Fekir extensively over the past 12 months, but their failure to secure Champions League football for next season, as well as the current state of flux concerning the management situation at Stamford Bridge, means they have been bypassed by Liverpool.

"The deal is at a standstill, there is no way forward", Aulas had claimed.

There is no deal yet in place between the relevant parties, but Liverpool are expected to try to finalise an agreement before Saturday. "The deal will certainly not be closed during the World Cup and I don't think there will be any change before the World Cup". Didier Deschamps' side play their final World Cup warm-up game against the U.S. in Lyon on Saturday and the manager had instructed his squad to settle any outstanding transfer business before flying to Russian Federation.

"We haven't set a starting price because we haven't discussed that yet".
