Farewell Ceremony for Two Russian Servicemen Killed in Syria Held Near Chita

This week, the jihadists ramped up their hit-and-run attacks on regime positions there, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor.

Four Russian military personnel were killed, three others wounded in clashes in Syria's Deir el-Zour, Russian defense ministry said Sunday.

A farewell ceremony for the Russian first lieutenant and sergeant first class killed in Syria have been held in Russia's Zabaikalsky Territory, a source, who was present at the ceremony, told Sputnik on Sunday.

"There were 35 pro-government forces killed, including at least nine Russians".

As the ministry said, the battle lasted for several hours, the soldiers destroyed 43 terrorists and six off-road vehicles with large-scale weapons.

Five Russian soldiers were also injured and were promptly taken to the Russian military hospital, it said.

Russia has backed Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad in the conflict which involves rebels and Western countries but there are reports that besides the Russian military, private Russian mercenaries are also operating on the ground as aides to the Syrian regime, the report added.

Conflicting details continue to come out of eastern Syria after the Wednesday ambush by ISIS forces against a Syrian military outpost near the Iraqi border.

Russian Federation is the main military backer of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in his country's seven-year civil war that has killed hundreds of thousands of people and displaced millions.

All this could bring Russian Federation and the United States to the bloody conflict but pro-Syrian government lost the battle.

"Russia's armed forces and the Syrian army have defeated the most battle-hardened group of worldwide terrorists", Putin said.

The very best casualties have been in March, when a transport airplane crashed at Hmeimim airbase the place Moscow's airforce is predicated, killing all 39 individuals on board.
