BBC's Mike Bushell falls into swimming pool during interview with athletes

BBC presenter Mike Bushell fell into a water pool while filming an interview with British swimmers who are taking part in the Commonwealth Games in Australia, the media outlet reported.

Try though they might, the swimmers, who included Adam Peaty and Siobhan Marie O'Connor, couldn't contain their laughter at the gaffe.

A BBC reporter accidentally went for a swim during a live interview in Australia.

Initially sitting on the side of the pool, Bushell then gets into the water but loses his footing on a step, and takes a tumble.

Just before the plunge, Bushell can be heard saying: "I'm going to be careful because I've got a sound pack on".

The swimming team burst out laughing as Mike tried to compose himself, and let's just say it was pretty hard for everyone to keep a straight face during the interview. "All the people here are literally on the floor", Bushell told viewers, referring to people off-camera.

Minchin added: "If you were going to set that up, you would imagine that might happen, and it did - live on national television. Mike fell in the pool". Perhaps that should be extended to cover water-based interviews, as Mike Bushell would no doubt agree.

"I didn't see the step!"
