Australia call Matt Renshaw for fourth and final Test against South Africa

Australia skipper Steve Smith has been suspended by the International Cricket Council for the match for his part in a ball tampering scandal during the third test. A choice on Darren Lehmann's future as Australia mentor may likewise be declared by CA.

Cameron Bancroft was caught rubbing sticky yellow tape on the ball, with Smith admitting afterwards it was a premeditated move by "the leadership group".

Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland was scheduled to give a press conference in Johannesburg at 7 p.m. local time (5 p.m. GMT), the Australian cricket body said.

Having just finished playing in the Sheffield Shield final in Brisbane, Renshaw is due to fly out on Tuesday (March 27) night to join the squad in Johannesburg ahead of the game that starts Friday (March 30).

Renshaw was dropped for the Ashes, but got the call to return to the global stage on Tuesday amid a ball-tampering scandal which has shamed the tourists.

Australian cricket has been rocked by the ball-tampering scandal that overshadowed the heavy 322-run defeat in the third Test in South Africa.

Ironically, the 21-year-old Renshaw was replaced as Australia opener by Bancroft before last year's Ashes series, but he has returned to form since being sent back to the domestic Sheffield Shield first-class competition. "I'm really looking forward to getting back into the test arena and expressing myself".

Cricket Australia is not expected to be so lenient amid calls for serious bans for all players found to be involved.

While Bancroft only averaged 25.57 with the bat during the Ashes, he has fared a little better in the ongoing Test series against the Proteas as he is Australia's highest run-scorer with 223 runs, which includes two half-centuries, at an average of 37.16.
