Seahawks to release Sherman

"This is just another chapter in the journey".

The Colts may be looking for a number one cornerback in free agency. "To the fans urging me to join your team, I am humbled but I can only look at the teams that have reached out". reported that Sherman will take a physical with the 49ers Saturday to determine where he is in his recovery from an Achilles tendon injury suffered on November 9 against Arizona, a game that it appears will turn out to have been Sherman's last in a Seattle uniform.

But Josina Anderson of ESPN reported that Sherman also has interest from the Titans, Lions, Raiders, Texans Bucs and Packers. One was a rupture that he sustained during the 2017 season and the other surgery was more recent and reportedly minor to remove bone spurs. He has said that he plans to be running at full speed some time next month and will be ready to play by training camp.

NFL Network also noted that Sherman "has a strong affinity for the West Coast", and San Francisco is close to Stanford, where Sherman went to college. Sherman's free agency will be complex as he is coming off of a serious Achilles injury, and he'll turn 30 years old before the beginning of next season. And Schefter says it's possible that Sherman, who grew up in California, will stay in the area after his visit.

Sherman made All-Pro four times in seven seasons with the Seahakws, who released him with a failed-physical designation to spare $11 million on their 2018 salary cap. Saleh has implemented a defensive system that is similar to the Seahawks. Since 2011, no player has more interceptions (32) or passes defensed (99) than Sherman, according to NFL Research.
