Trump Isn't Concerned Russia Will Influence 2018 Midterm Elections

Throughout his presidential campaign, Trump repeatedly praised Russian President Vladimir Putin and talked about how much he wanted to improve Washington's chilly relationship with Moscow ties. "But for me leading a small country, we feel the best way to do that is with others".

The president's remarks came the same day as the first primaries of 2018 occur in Texas. Trump will also meet with Swedish business representatives.

"A lot of states are doing that", he added. "Not highly complex computers".

Asked by a Swedish journalist whether he was concerned Russian Federation could have an effect on the midterms, Trump insisted during his news conference that the USA would prevent any election interference efforts.

The indictment issued by the US special counsel charged them with running a huge but hidden social media trolling campaign aimed in part at helping Republican Donald Trump defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton.

"I thought North Korea was terrific, they went into the Olympics, they went in with good spirit they did well, let's see if we can carry it over", he said. "And we are having strong backup systems", he said.

Trump announced last week a 25 percent tariff on steel and a 10 percent tariff on aluminum imports.

Trump says he hopes the North Koreans are "sincere". "I like watching it, I like seeing it". I like seeing it.

"And I think that's a great idea".

"These are the same people that said Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction", the statement said.

This is an astonishing failure of the president and his White House aides. Cohn was a Wall Street veteran and seen as a steadying force in the West Wing. He also said the list would go beyond those 13 names in the indictment.

Trump on Tuesday declined to comment on the status of his beleaguered Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who he's publicly sparred with of late. I took a little heat, but that was okay because I proved to be right.

During a White House press conference with Swedish Prime Minster Stefan Lövfen, President Trump said he likes "conflict", criticized Sweden's "immigration problem", and said people are still itching to work for his administration.

Trump clearly does not agree.

Trump has been upset at previously negotiated trade deals he said have hurt the US economy and cost manufacturing jobs.

"One of the reasons I was elected is I am protecting our workers".

Ryan said Trump was correct to focus on the problem of the dumping of steel in the U.S.at lower prices.

The US is the second-largest destination for Swedish steel. So not only do we lose on trade, we lose on military. It's a fraction of what it once was. It also acts as a protecting power for the U.S. in the country.

Although employment in these industries is down significantly, steel and aluminum production has remained stable as a result of increased production efficiency.

He says the US and its allies remain committed to applying "maximum pressure" on North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to give up his country's nuclear weapons. He said Sweden, which has an embassy in Pyongyang, is willing to help the United States and other "key actors" in negotiations.

This is a president who gets his "intelligence" from Twitter and "Fox & Friends", not the wealth of national security experts he has at his command.

Referring to threats from the European Union, which has promised to impose a punitive 25 percent tariff on US -made goods like bourbon whiskey, blue jeans, and Harley Davidson motorcycles, Lofven added, "As a Swede, I of course support the efforts of the European Union to achieve trade with fewer obstacles, as few as possible".
