Trump administration considered Sixers co-owner Josh Harris for a White House job

Kushner resigned as chief executive of the family firm when he joined the White House last January and sold a small portion of his stake in the company to a trust controlled by his mother, the Times said.

Kushner's family business, Kushner Companies, approached Qatar several times, including last spring, about investing in its troubled flagship property at 666 Fifth Avenue in NY, but Qatar's sovereign wealth fund declined, NBC News said, citing two sources familiar with the discussions.

"Mr. Kushner has done more than what is expected of him in this process", attorney Abbe Lowell said in a statement provided to NPR.

Before Donald Trump became President, strong anti-nepotism and conflict-of-interest rules governed the White House, and Congress showed an interest in enforcing them.

This pattern of handing out government jobs like mints to loyal friends and relatives does not seem to upset millions of Americans who wanted "the swamp drained" because the president himself successfully campaigned on having no experience or qualifications for the most important job in the world.

Officials announced earlier this week that Kushner was among dozens of White House officials who had their security clearances downgraded.

Trump said last week he trusted Kelly to settle the dispute.

Kushner's interactions with various business and government leaders during his time as President Donald Trump's adviser have come under a microscope in recent days.

Trade policy, and the debate over steel and aluminum measures in particular, has been the subject of bitter infighting within the Trump administration. The next day, she said she is resigning. She's calling the video "cheesy" and says that "we don't think it's responsible".

NBC cited unnamed people familiar with Mueller's investigation, as well as witnesses who have been interviewed by Mueller's team. Kushner has continued in his role, focusing on domestic issues like prison reform and planning for upcoming political races.

The current trouble with Kushner revolves, as it long has, around his family real estate business, which launched him into adulthood with access to what appeared to be a vast fortune with contacts at the highest levels of business and society.

Kushner lost access to the most valued U.S. intelligence report, the President's Daily Brief, as the White House has imposed greater discipline on access to secrets, it was revealed Tuesday.

The SEC, which often makes such inquiries of financial firms, didn't respond immediately to a request for comment. Harris met with Kushner multiple times to discuss infrastructure policy, but they also spoke about Harris possibly getting a job with the administration, which never happened.

Considering the example set by the President, who has ignored precedent by retaining attachments to his business interests (and their profits), Kushner's terrible judgment when it came to taking (and potentially using) his position seems like business as usual. "We're like a week away from Trump driving up to the White House in a Prius blasting the Hamilton soundtrack and wearing a t-shirt that says '#Resist'".

Hope Hicks leaving opens the door for John Kelly to bring in one of his own to run the White House communication department.
