Pete Carroll offers scouting report on Yankees' Russell Wilson

It's ridiculous to think that a quarterback who has a Super Bowl rings and two appearances on Super Sunday was only drafted a round higher in the National Football League, going to the Seahawks in 2012. Chasen Shreve, now a reliever with the Yankees, induced Wilson to ground into a double play in a June 2011 game.

With AP Photos.Russell Wilson struck out in his first spring training at-bat with the New York Yankees.

"I'm not opposed to any of that, personally", Cashman said, via the New York Daily News.

FS Earl Thomas, who is seeking a new contract and is the subject of rampant trade speculation: "Last year at this time I think Earl had retired". reporter Bryan Hoch caught up with the last pitcher to face Wilson in a pro baseball game.

Carroll's comments on Thursday also marked his first since he fired several assistant coaches, including offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, offensive line coach Tom Cable and defensive coordinator Kris Richard. There is much learning to be done between new coordinator and his QB this offseason, beginning when players report for the start of Seahawks' offseason workouts April 16.

He's all for it.

Wilson has looked good this week in BP and during fielding practice.

"This (offseason) is a great challenge for us, a personal challenge for me and a challenge for the franchise as well", said Carroll. He reports in impeccable condition. At this early stage right now, they're not in the [football] program here, there's a lot of free time and guys have to do their thing. "Some guys are maybe traveling around the world, he's playing baseball". He is playing ball.

"It was hard to make those choices", Carroll said.

"I was really impressed with his overall command and his ability to see things from a different perspective, which will be really exciting for us and will be good for Russ' development", Carroll said of new offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. "So I have no problem with that".

The Colorado Rockies originally chose Wilson in the fourth round in the 2010 Major League Baseball amateur draft.
