Aymeric Laporte On Bench - Manchester City Team vs Burnley Confirmed

Raheem Sterling has surely claimed the prize for miss of the season in the Premier League 2017/18 campaign, after somehow firing wide from just four yards out.

That's because Johann-Berg Gudmundsson popped up with a clinical equaliser in the last 10 minutes to snatch a point for the battling Clarets.

Sterling missed another golden chance to score in the 71 minute when he got onto the end of a pin-point pass from Kyle Walker, but he fired inches wide of the target from just inside the box.

RAHEEM STERLING is having the most prolific season of his career at Manchester City, with many of his goals deciding the outcome of matches.

City showcased their quality in the 39th minute with a flowing move from the back, ending with a powerful drive from Kevin De Bruyne which keeper Nick Pope did well to keep out.

Gudmundsson quietly goes about his business but, statistically, no one has been involved in more Burnley goals than the Iceland worldwide this season.

Man City boss Guardiola, expressed disappointment after the match, saying that even though his side's performance was outstanding, they missed a lot of chances at goal. 'We could take one from second team but they played a game yesterday.

But somehow he missed a chanced which looked easier to score.

After the game, Ben Mee, Gudmundsson and Vincent Kompany all spoke to Sky Sports, while Pep Guardiola and Sean Dyche gave their reflections on the 1-1 draw.

City controlled the flow of play from the onset, but for all their pressure they struggled to break down a resilient Burnley defence early on. 19-year-old forward Lukas Nmecha has been training with first team, and didn't play in that second team game last night (a defeat to Swansea's under-23s).

"We didn't have any more players", Guardiola said. I thought we handled every game against Burnley so far well.

"It was a fantastic goal".
