Actress Uma Thurman levels accusations against Harvey Weinstein

Actress Uma Thurman has accused embattled Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of forcing himself upon her sexually and director Quentin Tarantino of making her perform a risky auto stunt that injured her.

Now in a New York Times op-ed by Maureen Dowd, Thurman has broken her silence about her ordeal with Weinstein in interviews with Dowd.

Thurman described two encounters with Weinstein that were inappropriate. "And when I'm ready, I'll say what I have to say".

The Kill Bill star let Dowd know that after that bad encounter, she saw Weinstein to confront him on his attempted assault. Now, the truth is out.

"Quentin came in my trailer and didn't like to hear no, like any director", she says. And in that confusion, she made decisions she still feels guilty about. Thurman, who sustained "permanent" injuries to her neck and knees, says that Tarantino "wouldn't let me see the footage [of the crash] and he told me that was what they had all decided". "I stand as both a person who was subjected to it and a person who was then also part of the cloud cover, so that's a super weird split to have", she explained.

"I just walked away stunned, like 'Okay, well there's my half-assed apology, '" said Thurman. Should she have fought back more?

Thurman says she "privately regarded Weinstein as an enemy after that", and that while they continued to work together because he had "a chokehold on the type of films and directors that were right for me", she tried to limit her exposure to him.

"He tried to shove himself on me". She accuses Weinstein of trying to force himself on her and exposing himself in different hotel rooms.

This news follows Uma Thuram's detailed account in The New York Times of how Weinstein "did all kinds of unpleasant things" to her. "But he didn't actually put his back into it and force me", she said of the incident, for which she didn't specify a date. "And it was so hot and I said, 'This is ridiculous, what are you doing?' And he was getting very flustered and mad and he jumped up and ran out", she recalled. "In a chilling passage, Ilona Herman, Robert De Niro's makeup artist and Thurman's friend, recalls that after this exchange, "[Thurman] was very disheveled and so upset and had this blank look. Her eyes were insane and she was totally out of control. "We had a fateful fight at Soho House in NY in 2004 and we were shouting at each other because he wouldn't let me see the footage and he told me that was what they had all decided". "She was really shaking".

A representative for Thurman, Leslie Sloane, responded to an Associated Press request for more details on all the encounters by saying only: "The article speaks for itself". After Tarantino ordered her to drive a blue convertible that she was convinced was unsafe for a scene, Thurman crashed into a palm tree and sustained injuries. There's footage of the crash, but Thurman had been unable to get a copy of it, even through legal means, until the Miramax empire started crumbling down this past October. Thurman also accused Tarantino of participating in "sadistic" acts on the "Kill Bill" set that were to be performed by actor Michael Madsen. "I was ultimately compliant", she said. She later posted to Instagram, saying to "stay tuned".
