Chelsea think about transfer for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud

Wenger spoke amid speculation that Chelsea are making move to sign Olivier Giroud.

Giroud has scored 105 goals in 252 games for Arsenal since joining the club back in 2012 but the 31-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a move away from the Emirates in recent weeks.

Arsenal could be using Olivier Giroud as a poker chip in their bid to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund as the Frenchman is not opposed to moving to the Bundesliga.

Wenger said: "I can not tell you more".

But he admits Giroud could go this month if Aubameyang - or another forward - comes into the club. "Our intention is to keep Ozil at the club and hopefully we will manage to do that soon". If anything else happens, at the moment I would say I don't know. We have nothing to announce today and at the moment we stay where we are.

"It's still possible, we are far from being closed".

"Our intention is we signed Mkhitaryan on a longer contract than we had with Sanchez", he added.

"I want Olivier to stay", he said.

"Maybe one or two young players [will go] out on loan somewhere, [but] the experienced side of the squad will remain the same unless somebody comes in".

The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Blues are weighing up an attempt to try and persuade the France global to leave Arsenal and join their bitter London rivals.

"Not close enough to be optimistic and not far enough to be pessimistic", the boss said (Arsenal.com).

"No. I have a consistent exchange with him". His focus and his desire for achievement with the team is that he behaves like someone who is completely focused and committed and ready to commit.
