First New Xbox One Update of the Year Adds Helpful Features

Microsoft is working on bringing a bunch of new features to the Xbox One and they are going out for testing.

Apparently, Microsoft is looking to update Xbox Achievements with a new "Careers" system and other special Avatar bonuses. Now in the Alpha ring, the new system update comes with improvements to the Guide, and a key new feature: Do Not Disturb.

The Next Achievements feature enables you to view and sort a cross-games list of upcoming Achievements.

We're also getting Mini Game Hubs, which allow access to content from recently played games from a Game Hub without needing to exit whatever game you are playing. Mini Game Hubs provide an easy way to see friends who are now playing, upcoming Achievements, Looking for Group posts, and more.

There are also a few tweaks to social settings.

A "Do Not Disturb" online status has been added, which will suppress notifications and let players avoid distractions and focus entirely on their game. Comments have been arranged to place more recent ones on top, while also showing who liked your comments. The Narrator is also now able to read large amounts of text. Now there are one and six hour options, but Microsoft chose to add, two, three, four, and five hour options after reviewing feedback from users. In the interim, Insiders are being asked to do hard reboot by holding the power button down for ten seconds to fix this issue.

Xbox is investigating the inaccurate RGB colors that have been reported when displaying in 4K HDR mode when playing a UHD disc.

It'll also soon be possible to set up an automatic shut down time range, which is pretty great if you tend to leave your console running when you leave the home and walk around for a whole day with fire risk fears hanging over your head.
