Several chances for snow, ice forecast this week, starting Tuesday

So perhaps we see a flurry or a snow shower Friday afternoon into Friday night as the clipper system passes to the north. The pattern of cold air and snow showers returns by the middle of next week. This means any wet or slushy surfaces will freeze so we'll need to be mindful of slippery spots for travel later tonight into Friday morning. Morning temperatures slowly rise into and through the 20s with afternoon highs only in the low-to-mid 30s.

Sunday: Partly to mostly sunny.

Clouds decrease quickly later this morning with lots of sunshine on tap for this afternoon. Gusts should be limited to no more than 30 miles per hour in the metro area but that's still more than enough wind to keep wind chills in the 20s. But as of now the snow looks too light for anything more than a dusting to a light coating, if that.

Tomorrow (Thursday): Temperatures moderate just a bit, with highs heading for the upper 30s to low 40s.

Tomorrow night: Winds diminish again as we head into the evening and become light overnight.

Skies will begin to clear by early evening.

Elsewhere across the United Kingdom sub-zero temperatures are also forecast, with more wintry showers in parts by the end of the week.

So far, we've only seen 2.8 inches of snow in Denver this season. It increases clouds after some morning sun. But with Sunday highs in the 40s, anything that falls should be in the form of rain. There are still a lot of details to be worked out on how cold it may get and the potential for snow. There's another shot for a few snow showers on Friday.
