India's Global Entrepreneurial Summit to Focus on Women

Ivanka Trump, the famous daughter of the US President Donald Trump, is all set to visit India next week. It is for the first time that women will form a majority of the participants at a GES.

The city is decked up to host the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES), which will be inaugurated by Prime Minster Narendra Modi tomorrow. Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia and Israel are among 10 countries being represented by all-female delegations.

The financial and in kind support from the GES partners opens opportunities for more entrepreneurs to participate from around the world.

Ivanka Trump is also a fashion designer and we are expecting that the saree selected by Samantha will impress her. The theme this year is supporting women entrepreneurs, something the first daughter and special assistant to President Trump strongly advocates for. "It demonstrates the administration's commitment to the principle that when women are economically empowered, their communities and countries thrive", Ivanka Trump had mentioned earlier in a preview to her Indian visit.

Over 100 innovative startups, products, services and processes will be exhibited through a multi-touch interactive wall, sensor-enabled touch screens, rotoscope mural technology, and physical displays.

In 2016, Silicon Valley hosted the GES.

Inquiries revealed that the Trident Hotel and other star hotels in Madhapur - including Westin which was initially said to be the place of her stay - were fully booked apparently for the delegates of Global Entrepreneurship Summit to commence on Tuesday.

Addressing a press conference along with Kenneth Juster, the US Ambassador to India, Mr Kant said that Union ministers Sushma Swaraj, Nirmala Sitharaman and Suresh Prabhu would participate in the Summit.

The choice of Hyderabad to host the event is significant as the city is a major tech hub; home to a large number of United States firms, including giants like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Apple and Uber, and a robust startup ecosystem.

Telangana government has made elaborate arrangements for the prestigious event, which will also showcase the city as a fine blend of tradition and modernity.

But in June, Prime Minister Modi, while visiting the White House, announced that the two countries would co-host the summit.
