Patriots Claim TE Martellus Bennett After Waived By Packers

After getting cut by the Packers on Wednesday for "failure to disclose a medical condition" and signing with the Patriots on Thursday, Martellus Bennett gave his side of the story about how his time in Green Bay ended in a long, expletive-filled rant on Instagram.

The Packers signed him to a three-year, $21 million this offseason, but released him after just seven games.

ESPN's Adam Schefter and the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport both reported Bennett is dealing with the injury.

Bennett spent last season with the Patriots on a one-year deal, catching 55 passes for 701 yards and seven touchdowns while helping them win the Super Bowl.

On Friday, Bennett was practicing with the Patriots.

Rodgers stopped just short of accusing Bennett of forcing his way off the roster when Packers starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers broke his clavicle earlier this season. So they tried to fuck me before they thought I would fuck them. He was claimed by the Patriots the next day. He missed the last two weeks of practice in Green Bay after his shoulder injury mysteriously appeared the Tuesday following the bye week. I advised him to get the second opinions.

They panicked. Thinking that I was trying to go on IR and be on their books next year.

"The last medical conversation I was involved with in regards to Marty was talking about scheduling surgery", McCarthy said Friday. After that, then you have the termination and then the claim.

Asked if he didn't believe Bennett was "on the boat", Richard Rodgers said, "I really can't answer that". "We know our ultimate goal".
