Donald Trump's response to NY terrorist attack shows anti-Muslim bias

Indian officials said they await the plan the U.S. administration would put in place, which wouldn't be country-specific, and pointed out that natives from India were not singled out by the Trump government in any manner when he came up with immigration-control measures in the past.

Trump's tweet was vague on what aspect of vetting Homeland Security should "step up".

But a measure that's grounded in a non-xenophobic attempt to keep Americans safe wouldn't be politically incorrect. The Trump administration had initially formulated a refugee intake system and travel ban on people from seven Muslim-majority countries. However, the website notes, the president's responses seem more subdued when it comes to attacks involving non-Muslims.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasco responded to Tuesday's attack: "This was an act of terror, and a particularly cowardly act of terror aimed at innocent civilians, aimed at people going about their lives who had no idea what was about to hit them".

"We must not allow ISIS to return, or enter, our country after defeating them in the Middle East and elsewhere", he wrote, capping off the message with his signature exclamation, in this case: "Enough!".

"In NYC, looks like another attack by a very sick and deranged person", Trump tweeted.

The president later said the we can't defeat ISIS overseas only to have them wreak havoc in the U.S.

Vetting procedures attempt to detect foreign nations who may commit or support acts of terrorism, or pose a threat to national security.

Five months later, a Tunisian asylum seeker who had pledged allegiance to Islamic State plowed a truck into a crowded Christmas market in central Berlin, killing 12 people and injuring 48.

Trump's first on-camera remarks: The President speaks during spray for Cabinet meeting in the early afternoon on November 1, and forcefully calls for a re-examination of United States immigration policy and says his White House will undertake that immediately. After surgery, he is in critical condition.

The federal government has broad powers to limit or suspend immigration in the name of national security, as it did following the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Near the company's rental trucks, the van is parked.
