Patriots hold on to beat Chargers, 21-13

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Travis Benjamin bobbled a punt against the New England Patriots.

The Patriots dominated the possession game, holding the ball for for just under 37 minutes to the Chargers' 23, racking up 27 first downs to the Chargers' 16. That unit had another solid outing against the Chargers, save for Melvin Gordon's 87-yard touchdown run in the first half. It certainly seemed as though they could pull the upset as the Patriots came out a bit stagnant. For the second-straight week, the Patriots held an opposing quarterback to fewer than 300 yards (212). Tom Brady engineered a 14-play, 77-yard drive - complete with three third-down conversions - getting within a point on a 2-yard touchdown pass from Brady to Rob Gronkowski and tying the game on Stephen Gostkowski's PAT at 7-7.

If dropping the return at his own 11-yard line wasn't enough, Benjamin picked up the bouncing ball and ran backwards into the end zone.

Bosa's second-quarter sack of New England Patriots star Tom Brady on Sunday was the 19th of his two-year National Football League career. That's where he got tackled behind the goal line, bringing the Patriots to a 9 to 7 advantage.

The Pats would take on two field goals before the half to take a 15-7 lead to the break. Curiously, especially given the weather conditions, Los Angeles made a decision to attempt a 51-yard field goal.
