Trump's Anti-Iran Rhetoric Isolates US, Not Iran: Commander

The US President has taken "the only reasonable approach", claimed the diplomat who headed Israel's foreign service when the West reached its deal with Iran.

Ayatollah Khamenei said he welcomed expressions of support for the accord from European states but if the USA tore up the deal, Iran would "shred it to bits".

The deal was also signed by China, France, Russia, Britain, Germany and the European Union.

Mr. Khamenei, Iran's highest authority, welcomed their support but said it was not sufficient.

Trump accuses Iran of supporting terrorism and says the 2015 deal does not do enough to block its path to acquiring nuclear weapons.

Tehran has said it is developing missiles exclusively for defensive purposes.

Also, International Monterey Fund (IMF) Managing Director Christine Lagarde said the IMF sees no reason to change its policy on granting loans to Iran despite United States pressures and bans.

Pouyanne said Total was weighing its options and all would depend on the U.S. Congress and if it decides to reinstate the sanctions, and what kinds of sanctions.

Iran's highest authority also said Tehran was determined to continue its disputed ballistic missile programme despite the pressure from Europe and the United States to suspend it. Tehran has defended the move, saying the weapons are exclusively for defensive purposes.

Mr. Khamenei said: "they must avoid interfering in our defence programme".

"The Europeans' following of America's bullying policy is not acceptable for Iran", he said. Why do you have missiles yourselves?

"When Trump calls Iran "The Terrorist Nation", or distorts the 2,500 years of history the "Persian Gulf" has, by calling it the "Arabian Gulf", people realize that they are being targeted", he told euronews.

It has called upon the Islamic Republic not to "undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles created to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons".

"Americans are angry because the Islamic Republic of Iran has managed to thwart their plots in Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and other countries in the region", Khamenei said.
