Ankara calls for resolution to Turkey-US tensions

"Today, Serbia considers Turkey as its friend". Bass has already received a new appointment in Afghanistan, but before his departure he will have farewell meetings with representatives of the Turkish state as ministers and the Speaker of Parliament.

The employee was remanded in custody by an Istanbul court late last Wednesday on accusations of links to the group of US-based preacher Fethullah Gulen, blamed by Ankara for last year's failed coup against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

"Our wish is that relations between the two allies get back to normal soon", Yildirim said during a provincial governors meeting in Ankara.

"The Turkish business is more and more interested in Serbia".

The prime minister told governors that Ankara would use "common sense" in dealing with the situation at a time when regional and global tensions have been rising.

Turkey is calling for a normalization of relations with the United States following rising diplomatic tensions between the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies.

So far, Erdogan has been careful not to take aim at Trump during the dispute, putting the blame squarely on Bass.

Some Turkish officials have long alleged a United States hand in the coup attempt on July 15 a year ago, which Ankara blames on the US-based Muslim preacher Fethullah Gulen.

Ties have also frayed in recent months over the refusal of the U.S. to extradite Gulen, and its support for Kurdish militias in Syria.

The president of Ukraine said that Ukraine and Turkey are striving to intensify bilateral cooperation at all levels "in the spirit of trust and mutual respect".
