Texas girl, 3, missing after late-night punishment

An Amber Alert was issued for the girl Saturday afternoon and continued Monday afternoon.

Police weren't called to the home until some five hours after the child was last seen, according to Sgt. Kevin Perlich. Authorities believe she is in immediate danger.

An Amber Alert has been issued for the girl who was described as having "developmental issues and has a limited verbal communication skills", KXAS reported.

Her father, Wesley Mathews, 37, is now behind bars, facing child endangerment charges. He was released Saturday after posting $250,000 bond.

Mathews, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Dallas Morning News, sent his daughter to stand near the large tree across an alley where he had previously seen coyotes, he admitted to investigators.

Saturday RPD search teams and dogs went door-to-door in the neighborhood, trying to find any sign of Sherin. Richardson police also stated that Sherin was adopted from an orphanage in India two years ago, NBC5 reported.

"They felt since God gave them that baby as a miracle baby, that they could help another little one without a family", he said.

Sherin was last seen wearing a pink top, flip flops and black pyjama bottoms.

She is 3-feet tall and weighs 22 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Police are looking for any evidence they can.
