Odell Beckham Jr. Ankle Injury: Giants Receiver Carted off Field

As if the Giants season could not get any worse, the unthinkable happened.

Odell Beckham Jr. was carted off the field in the closing minutes of Sunday's home game against the Chargers, the team's fourth (and best) wide receiver to be hurt on the day.

Marshall suffered an ankle sprain during Sunday's 27-22 defeat to the Chargers, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

That gave Los Angeles its first win against four losses, and dropped the Giants to 0-5.

Marshall was also carted off the field in the second quarter after failing to make a one-handed catch and rolling his left ankle. Ingram would recover, and three plays later, Philip Rivers would connect with running back Melvin Gordon for a game-winning touchdown.

The Giants' playoff hopes were probably gone before kickoff, but any extended absence of Marshall and Shepard would put whatever little optimism remained concerning the season's remainder to rest.
