Titans QB Marcus Mariota day to day with strained hamstring

Starting quarterback Marcus Mariota suffered a hamstring in Sunday's game against the Texans, and he's "day to day", according to Titans coach Mike Mularkey. Should Mariota miss any time, the team's attack will take on a very different shape while being run by a 35-year old backup quarterback in Matt Cassel, who has as many rushing touchdowns (5) in his 13-year National Football League career as Mariota in less than three full seasons as a pro.

If he can not go, 36-year-old Matt Cassel will be the starter.

Carraway will go through waivers and will be added to the Titans' practice squad, as long as no one claims him. The 22nd pick overall in 2012, Weeden has started for Cleveland, Dallas and Houston; the Texans released him September 2 in their final cuts. Weeden was released by the team in March 2014, just two seasons after being a first-round selection. He also has played for Dallas.

Before exiting Sunday's loss, the third-year quarterback blasted through Houston's defense for a 34-yard scoring run before punching in a 2-yard touchdown on the ground prior to halftime. He served as a backup the past two years in Houston and never saw the field last season. And if Mariota is deemed healthy enough for that role, he would be a better option than a healthy Cassel.
