Kyrie Irving not the least bit interested in LeBron James' feelings

That was the case on Monday, when Irving joined "First Take" on ESPN and was hit with a series of questions of whether or not he consulted with LeBron James prior to going to ownership to request a trade.

Irving was also asked why he didn't communicate his intentions with LeBron James.

Irving replied: "Honestly, Stephen A., I didn't hear anything that was reality-based in all of that".

He then seemingly threw a ton of shade in the direction of his former teammate.

That has to be considered the biggest shade throwing in the history of eight-word responses.

As he said in his introductory news conference, Irving said he didn't talk to James before making his trade request. There is no time to figure out how to save someone's feelings when ultimately, you have to be selfish in that in figuring out what you want to do.

"I'm not here to go at any particular person or organization because I have nothing but love for Cleveland".

"I felt like, when I was coming into that environment, there were times when my energy was just a little off, and I just had to figure that out", Irving said.

At another point in the segment, Smith discussed various storylines regarding the upcoming National Basketball Association season, and then asked: "Are you prepared to deal with - unintentional or not - are you prepared to deal with the distraction that you are going to be just because you're that good and you chose to leave Cleveland and you ended up in Boston?" It was time to make that decision.

He said he "absolutely" believes he can win without James and that he feels fortunate that he landed with the Celtics after "I really took a leap of faith with myself" with the trade request. It wasn't anything about that.

Irving said he "relished" his role with the Cavaliers, but: "I'm not just this one-on-one individual that wants to go one-on-one every single time down. And that was the only intent that I have in all this". James was named the Finals MVP, though it was Irving who hit the series-winning shot in Game 7.

Irving came to the Celtics last month in a blockbuster trade that included Isaiah Thomas, Jae Crowder, Ante Zizic and two draft picks. The two teams will play each other on the NBA's opening night on October 17.
