Scaramucci to Trump: Go mainstream, lose nonsense

But on Sunday, he was offering serious insights into how the Trump administration works and advice about what President Donald Trump should do.

The ex-aide was speaking on the ABC News show This Week when he was asked by host George Stephanopoulos about the statement the United States president gave yesterday in which he condemned the violence but not neo-nazis specifically.

Mr Scaramucci was asked to leave when Mr Trump named General John Kelly his new chief of staff and tasked him with restoring calm.

"I don't think you're going to change the president", Scaramucci said.

"I get to work together with a broad range of talented people and it is a privilege every day to enable the national security team", he said.

"That whole thing is nonsensical. The president has a very good idea of the people who are undermining his agenda, that are serving their own interests", Scaramucci added. He's got to move more into the mainstream, he's got to be more into where the moderates are and the independents are, George, that love the president. "If he doesn't do that, you'll see inertia".

In the call, Scaramucci went after Bannon, using vulgar language to describe the chief strategist.

Scaramucci will appear Monday on CBS' "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert".

"McMaster was asked whether he believes Bannon does that".

On a separate livestream later, Scaramucci said he didn't know whether Bannon was a white supremacist, but said that his embrace of white nationalists was "inexcusable".

"What we focus on is coordinating and integrating efforts across the government and with our multinational partners and allies to present the president with options, options about some very serious national security challenges we face today and, and also options to take advantage of opportunities to secure the American and protect the American people and promote American prosperity".

"We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides", Trump said at a press conference.

Writing on Twitter, she said: "There should be no place in society for racism, white supremacy and neo-nazis".

During ABC News' livestream interview after This Week, Scaramucci was asked if he believes Bannon is a white supremacist or white nationalist. But Scaramucci said he thought the interview with reporter Ryan Lizza was off the record.

"I like Steve, but you have to remember he was not involved in my campaign until very late", Trump told the New York Post in April.
